NI ReACH is pleased to announce that it has received a $318,840 award expanding our Family Unification Voucher program. Only three awards were given to Illinois and this allows NI ReACH to help another 40 families with its existing Family Unification Program.

In 2015, NI ReACH, then Winnebago County Housing Authority, partnered with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services for a demonstration program to assist youth aging out of foster care. The following year, HUD announced that they would create funding to formalize these programs. The funding is targeted for the foster care program.

Funds will allow NI ReACH to expand this program for Winnebago and Stephenson Counties.

Other affordable housing partners also received an award.

Chicago Housing Authority: 73 vouchers for $942,576
Rockford Housing Authority: 36 vouchers for $222,251
NI ReACH (formerly Winnebago County Housing Authority): 40 vouchers for $318,840

Illinois received a total of 149 vouchers at $1,483,667. For more information, read HUD’s release regarding the award. For more information about the Family Unification Voicher Program, contact Christina Coon at ccoon@nireach.org.
